ScanFAB is a fully integrated, stand-alone workstation linking existing or old designs with today's automated production environment. ScanFAB uses Windows based software integrated with a high-resolution, calibrated flatbed scanner. This combination allows re-engineering and precise reproduction of data for original board designs, regardless of input.

Input Data Versatility

ScanFAB adds flexibility to the fabrication process. Utilizing its calibrated scanner, ScanFAB inputs silver or diazo film, Mylar images, technical drawings, actual PCB's, Stencils or your original hand-taped designs to produce necessary Gerber data.

Automatic Features

Tired of using slow vectorization methods? ScanFAB offers various functions to quickly and automatically vectorize:

  • Flash Pads (circular, square, oval, rectangle)
  • Tracks (orthogonal/all angle)
  • Silkscreens
  • Copper Fill Areas/Ground Planes
  • Crosshatched Areas (90°/45°)
  • Stencil Files

Editing

Editing is performed in the Graphics Screen, a user-friendly editing environment. Using a combination of tool bars, "hot-keys" and menu-driven functions, the user is able to make corrections and modifications quickly and easily. The multi-color display and multiple zoom levels allow selection of the most convenient editing environment.

Verification

Worried about the quality of the finished Gerber files? Use ScanFAB's "check functions" to verify the accuracy of the data.
These check functions will verify layer-to-layer pad alignment, eliminate "double-hits," air gap clearance check, identify tolerance violations and prevent opens and shorts.

Production Tools

ScanFAB creates Gerber files as well as other data used in PCB production, including: Silkscreens, Drill Files, Soldermasks, Padmasters, Stencil Files, Panelized Images, DXF, Gerber-274x.
ScanFAB increases versatility in the working environment!

What is ScanPRO?

ScanPRO is fully integrated, stand-alone workstation designed to produce drill files when CAD data is not readily available. ScanPRO combines a DOS-based software package with a high-resolution flatbed scanner to generate drill files in both Excellon and Sieb & Meyer formats.

Scanning

Need drill data and only have the original hand-taped design? Mylar images? Diazo or silver film? Only have an existing PCB or technical drawings? Drill data can be generated using each of these types of media! Scan the board, film or drawing and use the automatic de-skew function to produce a quality image.

Automatic Pad Recognition

Use the automatic pad recognition functions to create drilling data. These vectorization processes generate the GERBER data required for drill files. The GERBER files may also be utilized for Stencil Files, Pad Masters and Test Fixtures.

Editing

Editing is performed in the Graphics Screen, a user-friendly WYSIWYG editing environment. Use the "hot-keys" and menu-driven functions to modify the drill file quickly and easily. The multi-color display and multiple zoom levels allow the user to select the most convenient editing environment.

Verification

Worried about the quality of the completed drill file? Prior to writing out the file, use one of ScanPRO's "check functions" to verify the accuracy of the data. These functions will verify inter-layer pad alignment, eliminate "double-hits" and identify minimum pad distances.

File Creation

How easy is it to write out a drill file? Use two key- strokes!
A comprehensive tool table will be generated as the drill file is written to disk; this table itemizes the X/Y dimensions of the drilled hole, the number of holes and the number of required tools.

Why use ScanPRO?

  • Necessity: Supply your production house with required drill data.
  • Accuracy: Increase finished board quality by using internal check features.
  • Security: Prevent film/drawing deterioration by storing images on disk.
  • Security: Store multiple copies of data, both on and off-site.
  • Documentation: Produce printouts of images in addition to drill file data.
